To elucidate at the cellular level the complex regulation processes in organisms is a major challenge of the post-genome era. Thus, within the scientific community, the need arises to miniaturise sampling and sample handling. A significant aspect of this issue is the necessity for isolation of single intact cells from living tissue (e.g. from a model organism).

Up to now, isolation of single cells by manual dissection is realised only in rare cases, because it demands exceptional skills. Offering the platform to life scientists means to make that isolation procedure feasible for a great number of users.

We will set a standard in single cell isolation until 2010 and establish the use of our dissecting platform as a reference method.
